Bean Harvest

Untethering beans

from their

entanglement with the parent plants,

I listen to kind voices carried on the wind across the garden.

We are here getting our hands dirty in the best way,

chatting of bread and family and curiosity,

sharing what we know and

building community as brains and bodies are born to do.

There is joy in finding the emerald spires,

magnificent in their mass and nutrition.

These will feed hungry mouths,

and we are a part of it.

Our souls so hungry in these days of pollution,

of political discourse that sounds like swearing,

come home for the evenings

and we sleep

under a blanket of wholesome grace.
